From Florida to Virginia...

Cherry blossoms bloomed late this year in Washington, D.C.

First stop of our 1600 mile journey on April 6 was the Pecan Park RV resort in Jacksonville, Florida.  We enjoyed full hook ups and a good night's sleep despite some airport noise.

The beautiful Main Street Station in Downtown Richmond, Virginia was built in 1901.
Monday, April 7 it began to rain and we stopped at Florence, Alabama for an overnight stay at the Super Walmart.  We had lots of RV company and discovered our refrigerator was not converting to gas without an electric source.

We ran the generator to keep our food from spoiling while on the road and stopped on Tuesday, April 8 at Americamps RV Park in Ashland, Virginia, just north of Richmond.  We decided to stay a week as Valerie was in a hurry to see the cherry blossoms in Washington, D.C., which were reportedly about ten days behind schedule due to the colder than normal winter.

The park provided free waffles for breakfast prepared by a lovely work camper named Pat, and had a great fitness center.  We had a great technician which was able to get our refrigerator repaired among a few other things.  The dogs were able to get some good exercise.

Our sightseeing excursions included a day trip into Washington, D.C., The Main Street Station in Richmond, a tour of the State Capitol and the Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico.

Traffic gets a little crazy near our nation's capital.

A gift of the Japanese, the cherry blossoms entertain the boaters along the Potomac River.
