Better Late than Never -- Boot Camp and Escapade

SKPs gather nightly for door prizes and entertainment

Last blog post May 7.  Yikes!  It looks like we have a LOT of catching up to do!  In later blogs we will do our best to explain.

Goshen's beautiful county courthouse

Not your typical Walmart parking

Goshen, Indiana is a fascinating place, and the county seat for nearby Elkhart, considered to be the "RV Capital of the World."  It's a place where we step over horse manure to pick up dog poop, and where bicycles, horse-drawn carriages and RVs of every shape and style share winding roads amid corn fields, and train whistles blow loudly and frequently.

The community is an interesting study in multiculturalism.  There is a large Hispanic presence as well as Amish and Mennonite, so it is not uncommon to hear Dutch and Spanish spoken during a routine visit to the local Walmart store.

We love to revisit the Elkhart County Fairgrounds where we attended our first RV rally in 2007.

Jim and Lisa Koca take a quick break between seminars
George is one of the instructors for the Escapees' Boot Camp program, http://escapees.com/BootCamp/Events.aspx, an invaluable educational opportunity held May 9-11 for those interested in any aspect of RVing.  We always enjoy meeting new RVers and the teamwork with the professional staff that make these events so successful and memorable.

We were privileged to have had several instructors providing private lessons for those wanting to improve their driving skills.  In appreciation for their hard work and their supportive spouses, we enjoyed a dinner at Das Essenhaus Restaurant in nearby Middlebury.

And at the far end of the driving school's table -- Don and Sharon Del Rosario and Chuck and Gail Urwiller

Escapade is always a great time with so many seminars, entertainment, and camaraderie for those of us with common travel interests.  This year we again fought rain and cold, but spirits generally were not dampened.  It was a busy time.  We enjoyed it immensely, but family beckoned, and we were off to Kansas City once again.

Never a dull moment in the vendor area
